Matthew Good House, the contemporary 8,700 square foot new office space, was internally designed by Ark Interiors and furnished by Officio Furniture, two brands within The Strata Group family. Building and development was completed by local companies, Hall Construction Group and Wykeland Group.
The Strata Group were commissioned to turn the new build shell of John Good Group’s offices into a bold, modern and functional workspace for its team. The office is home to the John Good Group of companies, John Good Shipping, Good Travel Management and DAN Shipping. The Strata Group were challenged to create an environment that enabled each team to work both individually and collaboratively. Employees from all companies were consulted and encouraged to voice their ideas on ways in which the space could be developed to help productivity and ambience, which were then incorporated into the design.
The ultra-modern interior design and fit-out – which uses bursts of vibrant colour, full-length glass partitions and geometric graphics to create open spaces that encourage collaboration and communication -is part of John Good’s aim to firmly place the company as a 21st century brand, and has been acknowledged at this year’s North Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards. The office, which contains open plan workspaces, a large-scale shipping container graphic wall, colour changing ‘break-out’ area and a selection of ultra-modern furniture, was named “Best Large Commercial Building” at this year’s awards.
Managing Director for John Good Group, Alan Platt said “The teams from Ark and Officio were instrumental in turning this superb modern building into a workplace that really is quite special. The award is a great accolade for Matthew Good House. When the initial footings of the project were first put in place, we couldn’t have wished for a better outcome. The staff project team also deserve huge recognition for the effort they put in deciding each facet of the building. The overall result is fantastic – for all of the ideas to come to fruition and see the building win this award is a testament to everyone involved.”
