One of East Yorkshire’s most esteemed family-run businesses is reinforcing its commitment to the region more than 35 years on by working with a Hull-based commercial interiors and office fit-out firm as part of a major refurbishment of its headquarters.
Andrew Marr International Limited, together with its subsidiary company, J Marr (Seafoods) Limited, is working with renowned city firm Ark Interiors; the focus being to revamp its headquarters, incorporating a complete restructure of J Marr (Seafoods) Limited, representing a major capital investment.
The company – a fish procurement and trading firm which operates as far a field as Africa, Eastern Europe and the Far East, as well as South America – commissioned Ark Interiors to complete the work at its base in Livingstone Road, Hessle, and aspired to create vibrant and contemporary workspaces, boardrooms and facilities that reflect the company’s heritage whilst look firmly towards the future.
J Marr (Seafoods) Ltd began trading in 1979, specialising in the procurement and trading of frozen pelagic, demersal and farmed fish species harvested across the world. Now, the firm employs 45 people in the city and is continuing to grow.
Ark Interiors, part of Strata Holdings Group, is completing extensive refit works in programmed phases with the aim of ensuring minimal impact to the company’s day to day operations. Working closely with J Marr (Seafoods) Ltd Management and staff, Ark has developed designs and an implementation plan to ensure the refurbishment meets with the fullest needs of the business.
The refurbishment works are a planned, multi-phase project including the refurbishment of numerous environments. Establishment of temporary offices, storage, relocation of staff and then time critical refurbishment of J Marr (Seafoods) Ltd’s working spaces prior to moving everything and everybody back upon completion are all part of Arks wider brief. Ark Interiors project works are comprehensive across all trades even going as far as to ensure temporary digital and electrical needs are met.

Across the initial three phases everything has gone smoothly.
