It’s strange to think that 15 years have passed since the millennium and at the time it represented the pinnacle of future.
Fifteen years on and it looks like the dark ages compared to where we are now. There might not be the flying cars and self-sustaining homes the futurologists promised, but we can now interact with anyone in the world within mere seconds thanks to social media.
Technology has come a long way since everyone cowered in fear from the Millennium Bug and new technologies are now quickly replaced by something better. This is especially the case with social media. Most businesses are always looking for the next biggest social media platform to use in order to push out messages to as many people as they can.
Some companies decide to shy away from social media, using the more ‘conventional’ routes to get their key messages out such as using word of mouth or more traditional forms of advertising. But I’ve always been a great believer in moving with the times and the impact that certain digital aspects have on the business world is too hard to ignore.
It’s the done thing to search for a business’ website or social media profile before you start working with them or buying a product from them. People will always look for the validity of a business before they decide whether they buy their products or use their services, so it is vitally important that a business not only looks smart, but looks professional in terms of its online presence.
At Strata, we engage with people on a daily basis through social media platforms such as Google+, Facebook, Twitter and even this blog. With the majority of companies using social media in some form, it is important that we not only look the part, but we are giving businesses what they want – a professional outlook which determines positive first impressions of our business.
The internet has become a huge shop window for all businesses now, but it’s up to each individual company to ensure they stand out above others.
